rosas--sylvestres asked: perfect blog is perfect. my name is mar, who is you, or y'all?
hi mar, thanks for the love. i think your blog is great too.
as to who or what familiaa is… well, it’s an umbrella term for a group of friends and family who have come together to work on fun, diy, people-first projects ranging from skate videos, dj nights and photo shoots to zines, shirt designs, and whatever else comes our way. at the center of it though is a brother-sister duo, ashley and anthony, who are the driving force behind what gets done, and who are represented both in the profile pic and in the extra a in the name. they are the beating heart, the familia, so to speak, that has roped in the rest of our ragtag group.
the blog then is, when i remember to update it at least, mostly populated by our current creative inspirations as well as the things we are working on. while i, a family friend, among other things, am typically the one to post here, it is still a collaborative effort and spirit that animates the blog. or that’s the idea at least. like many of our projects, we’re kinda figuring it out as we go.
beyond that… we started out in costa mesa, long beach, and sf, and are now all living in the bay area. currently most of our energy is focused on a new skate shop (the loin sf), djing around the city, and a zine or two. i hope that helped answer your question. <3 <3

Keeping it Local.
Tenderloin-based screen print brand the loin has recently opened a new storefront on Eddy & Larkin, and the shop’s proprietors Jeff Bruton and Anthony Martinez are all about keeping it local. From the Bay-Area artists who design their awesome selection of tees, to the screen printing they do in their studio just a few blocks away, their TL pride is evident in everything they do. They even have a Tenderloin-themed mural on the store’s floor. Their presence in the neighborhood is proof that the Tenderloin is very much still a viable market with room for fresh new business. If you heart the TL as much as we do, stop by and check them out.
come check out the new skate shop @ Eddy & Larkin, we’re now open!
